Pancake Day
I have just made some pancakes for my son and I wonder if I actually reminded you that tomorrow is, of course, Pancake Day. I don't think I did which means we may well have tomorrow's class without any of this healthy nourishment. Anyway, and just to get into the spirit of things, check out this link and answer this question What is Collop Monday? I have to admit I was totally unaware (i.e. ignorant) of the name and its origin and Longman's Dictionary of English Language and Culture has, for the first time ever, let me down - it makes no mention of the word whatsoever. You will also have to find out from David, on Thursday, how his family and friends back home would have celebrated the day. If they did, how?
